Editorial policy
The reader’s decision comes first.
Our job is to make a gift choice clearer. Editorial reasoning, retailer facts, and commercial relationships stay visibly separate so a shopper can understand what supports each statement.
Editorial independence
Commission potential cannot buy a place in a guide or change a fit assessment. Retailer products are mapped to an existing editorial idea only after review.
Source labels
Retailer-controlled facts include title, image, seller, offer, availability, and price. Our own fields include the decision note, fit reasoning, caution, subject relationship, and guide selection.
Testing language
We do not say that we tested, tried, compared, or verified a physical product unless that work occurred and the page explains how. Listing review is not hands-on testing.
Ratings and reviews
Marketplace scores and review counts can change and can be manipulated or misunderstood. They may support research when properly sourced, but they do not replace our fit review and are not copied into launch pages.
Safety and age guidance
Products for children, mobility, heat, blades, electricity, roads, compression, or health-related use receive added checks. A reviewer must verify current warnings and suitability, and we avoid medical advice.
Identity and inclusion
Gender and identity can refine a request but should not substitute for known interests, routines, or constraints. An identity-only change must not silently produce a stereotyped product set.
Sensitive occasions
Grief, illness, pregnancy loss, and other vulnerable moments require restrained guidance. We can withhold affiliate actions when commerce would undermine the reader’s trust or the purpose of the page.
Gifts we decline
We reject candidates with unverifiable safety or performance claims, unclear required purchases, hidden subscriptions, variant confusion, counterfeit warning signs, or a poor match to the stated decision problem.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected promptly. Reports should include the page, the disputed statement, and a source when available. Retailer data can be withdrawn immediately while a review is open.
